Cardboard
I used to do this when I was a kid. I would get all excited about something and I would make cut-outs and decorate my room with that subject. One time I made all of these cut out fish… I colored them in bright colors and hung them from the ceiling of my bedroom with thread. It was like I was in a paper aquarium.
Hanging fish from the ceiling, what a great idea! I once cut out a life size guitar to use as a prop in a school project. It looked pretty terrible though.
I wonder if these comic cardboard cutouts will be making a real life FF appearance.
You know, life immitating art immitating life.
Squidman… I love crafty stuff… but often am too lazy to do them. I am having fun right now getting ready for Aloha First Friday….
stick… I will post some pics of what I’ve been up to.
Did you ever see the Brady Bunch episode(s) where the whole family went to Hawaii? I know this is random, but I had to ask. It’s one of my most favorite shows of all time. And yes, I know it’s awful, but so are Hostess Donette’s, but I can’t stay away!
It always intrigued my mom when I was younger how I could turn a pile of paper, a roll of tape, scissors, markers and whatever else I could get my hands on into all the toys I ever needed. She told me later she was both amazed at her son’s imagination and elated at how cheap he was to shop for. Especially since she had a job in an office where she could get her hands on scrap paper by the crate and the occasional roll of tape would “fall out of the supply locker”, heh.
One of my most favorite toys ever? A Battlestar Galactica pilot’s console … was from some cereal (I forget which one), had to send in like 8 box tops or something, and was all cardboard, you folded and put it together … even had a carboard flight stick! I spent weeks flying missions in my “Viper” wiping out cylons … ah the memories …
The original series. Yes, that was back in the late 70’s, early 80’s … yes the TV show was actually airing live back then … do the math … yeah I’m that old 😛
Hey, Ryan, howzabout a nice Hawaiian punch?
Oh! And don’t forget that MOST CRUCIAL INGREDIANT for the true Hawaiian experience:
SPAM!
I kid you not. How popular is Spam? Over 10 pounds a year is eaten per capita, making Hawaii (and Guam) the highest consumers of Spam. It’s so popular, Spam is served in McDonalds and Burger Kings in Hawaii.
spam, spam, spam, spam… Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam… SPAM! SPAM! SPAM! SPAM! WONDERFUL SPAM!!
Jack… yes! And what I remember most about it? THAT tarantula! and Vinnie Price… Oh, now I’m off to YouTube!
GWolf… Yah… I loved old skool Battlestar! I watched it religiously! … and your cardboard control board sounds awesome! I tried to do the same thing in a Star Wars capacity… my efforts were lame, but I had fun with it! God bless the creator of Cardboard!
Dada! Ha! I was in CVS and thought I would check out the juice aisle for First Friday drinks… and you’d never guess what I saw? HAwaiian punch! HA!!!!
Pete… yes, oh yes! Randie should have had the Spam. BUT I will be serving it at Aloha First Friday later this week… along with some other tastey treats! mmmmm…. spam.
