Cafe Opening
In Monterey there’s a place called Cafe Trieste… it has lovely atmosphere with warm yellow walls and lots of framed pictures on the walls… and they make an awesome cafe Americano. Also in Monterey, there is the Paris Bakery with their num-num baked goods… put them both together and what do you get? Some place I wish existed.
Cafe trieste? I av’ not heard of zis place. Paris bakery? Ze seaside location is best.
Nicely done highlight of Randie amidst the crowd.
Pet Artist? What? Is Jacques going to play the role of a wealthy benefactor sugar daddy to Randie’s struggling artist in need?
Huge Advance on the mural? I thought he just gave her money for paints, brushes and the like. Hope she did not confuse it’s intent.
Cafe Trieste is in downtown Monterey, a vertible hub of coffee shops. The place does look inviting, but have not yet ventured in. The coffee shop across the street, Plumes is a nice getaway. On the next block, Cafe Lumiere in the Osio Cinema art house, is a two story place that offers a great vantage point and recently won Monterey’s best coffee shop award. Practically next door is a big Starbucks. Going in the oppostite direction there’s Old Monterey Cafe and Peet’s. One street, a few blocks and oh so many coffee choices.
Hmm, bakeries… Pavel’s Backerei in bordering Pacific Grove has amazing, giant sized, budget priced goodies that are amazingly good.
Is it just me or did Randie do a bit of ‘celebrating’ beforehand?
Hope she doesn’t get TOO sloshed!
Dada… Harold couldn’t make it, so she’s drinking for the two of them.
And at her after-party there will be Pop’n Tarts. Oh yes, there will be Pop’n Tarts.
Cafe Trieste? There is a cafe of the same name in SF. Did they open a second (or third, or fourth?) location?
@stick
I think, with the way tightwads usually are when it comes to paying for a commission, an upfront payment to cover payments *is* huge for an artist like Randie. 😀
Squid… stroll Alvarado near the State Theatre… you’ll see it. I ordered a Decaf (don’t laugh) Americano there, and it was THE best I’ve had, on this side of the Atlantic.
stick… I judge a cafe establishment on a number of factors. Atmosphere is a big part of my cafe experience. East Village has nice atmosphere and pretty good coffee. Friendly, experienced baristas is another factor. My local Rollicks Coffee shop wins that one.
Dada… I just hope she doesn’t mix too much wine with espresso.
JC… Yes, the SF locations was first… I don’t know how many there are… but they are one in the same.
Grey… Yah, she hit the big time on the mural commission… on a small scale.
Gah. Rereading my post from last night makes me realize just how badly short on sleep I was. That should have read “an upfront payment to cover PAINTS”. Just had to clarify that so noone doubted my sanity. Well, no more than is warranted, anyway. 😀
Good thing I finally got my first decent night’s sleep in almost a week, looks like my brain was getting pretty fried …
