Busker
I should have added a gin and tonic on the arm of the couch there.
Gin & Tonics are like “drinking Christmas.” Juniper has a Christmassy smell.

Oddly, I was watching Statler & Waldorf before the e-mail telling me the comic updated. This could almost be one of their jokes. š (I loved the gag, of course.)
NO copy of “The Bartender’s Guide” or did Squish take it with her?
I think I’ve had drinks from that bartender.
Being the horrible person I am and with the high standards of drinking I keep…… I’d hang the guy by his own necktie. I mean sure, nobody knows how to make a Jack Rose anymore, but a Gin and Tonic? I was pouring those for my mom by nine years old. Sheesh.
What is Busking?
Chances are that you have either asked what busking is or had to explain it numerous times to people. Busking, busker and busk are words that you donāt often hear in the United States. Primarily a British slang, busking is defined as a person who performs in public for donation and possibly came from the Italian buscare, which means āto gain or procure.ā
Often times, buskers are portrayed as āstreet musicians,ā but can encompass just about anything that a person wants to do publicly for money. Impromptu poetry, living statues, jugglers, puppeteering, snake charming, pantomiming, caricature drawing and sword swallowing can all be considered busking and are common in different locations around the world.

For those who might be wondering what the heck Busking is. š
Gin-soaked olives are a favorite of mine, but gin itself is only good when it’s a top shelf. Our son Tim has been buying various high end liquors while looking for a bartending job and I’ve sampled some incredible gin, rum, whiskey and brandy. (Not all at one, though.) š
McDuffā¦ admittingly, it’s very much like a W&S joke. I can see them mocking from the balcony right now!
Leoā¦ newbie needs to make an investment. Even I have one of them books.
Wadeā¦ ooo, that’s too bad.
Lady Jennā¦ Hee hee. Over Christmas, we had a little get together, and a good pal brought us some really good gin and we made gin and tonicsā¦ like no other! Oh, St. Georgeā¦ how we love thee.
Heatherā¦ thank you for the Wiki Squidipedia moment. See? Reading the comments is well worth it! You can get edumacated!
Peteā¦ What’s your recommendation on brandyā¦? just curious. And will have to try the gin-soaked olivesā¦ sounds intriguing.
I once had a newbie bartender ask me what CC is.
@ Lady Jenn – a Jack (for applejack) Rose cocktail?
Two parts applejack (or perry, in a pinch – but nowhere near as good, in fact downright nasty sweet), one part cherry brandy (giving it the ‘rose’ of its name), shaken, with a twist of lime or a cherry for garnish. (I go with the cherry.)
I had a character in a Call of Cthulhu LARP that drank them. William Breedon III, known as ‘Wozzy’.
I forget which novel I got it out of, but it may have been The Thin Man. (Or any of the mysteries of the 1920s to 1930s, but I do think that it was Chandler.)
The Auld Grump, I don’t actually like them that much, but they were in character.
@ Auld Grump: Hallelujah! Someone else knows what a Jack Rose is!! I usually go with applejack, lemon juice and grenadine syrup, though cherry brandy is a good one. It used to be basically an essential drink in any bar…… but applejack’s very hard to get nowadays. Le sad. Everyone has their favorites, of course, and you’re welcome to like the cocktail of your choice.
