Bowling Focus
Usually, Ryan is a bit of a cheat at bowling. He’s rather competitive at this sport… and will goad Randie until she messes up. Here, she did it all herself.
sidenote… that is my bowling ball Randie is using. I’ve had it since I was 10. It’s a 10 pounder… and sparkly. Love it.
Randie’s game might improve if she moves up to a 12 or 14 pound ball.
I haven’t bowled in yonks. I used to be pretty decent at it – I had this wicked hook to my delivery that caused the ball to go way over almost to the gutter before curving back in to pick up the strike.
Not sure how good I’d be now, since my right arm’s full of hardware.
This reminds me of a (then-) blonde friend who went bowling with some folks from our college dorm one night. Her style was to send her ball bouncing down the alley. It earned her the nickname, Boom Boom. Well, Boom Boom despised that name and did not going bowling again.
I should have said, “she despised that name,” as I never called her that, she was a friend don’t cha’ know. But, Boom Boom was creative.
Wonder what would be a good name for Randall’s bowling prowess.
Plop, plop, fizz, fizz?
Wonder too how long Rye has to wait between frames. He could always bide his time by writing a new novel during those lull periods. He could even call it either, “As Time Goes By,” or “As Time Goes Bye.”
Yat… she might… but she has to be careful with her “drawing arm”… I’m pretty comfortable with a 10 pounder… although I can throw a 12 with good results.
uwg… hardware, eh? …. are you like a cyborg?
Did you bowl regular-like? a league?
stick… Boom Boom has a good reason to not like the name… but I wouldn’ta let it interfere with my bowling fun. I do think that Randie’s game isn’t always flat… just when she is distracted…. but Ryan would do good to keep the journal nearby… tons of material… and something to do whilst waiting.
a) Sorta. I borked my arm 2 years ago. There’s plates and screws holding the bone together.
b) No, I needed PE credits in college.
A White Russian, bathrobe, and sunglasses will vastly improve your love of bowling. Give it a try, Randie!
at one time i was a pretty fair bowler. now, i’m so out of practice that my bowling score would make a great golf score
…and vice versa.
uwg… that’s a shame about metal pieces holding your arm together. No more bowling for you. But, you don’t need college credit anymore…. so I guess it’s not too bad.
Dada… um…. the other bowlers will just laugh at her!
firedome… the bowling alley will wait for you. Unless of course, they knock it down and put something else there. That happened to the little bowling alley in Centerville, OH… near my mom. They put up a friggin’ Walgreens. Sigh.
I don’t know, but it seems like bowling is coming back. My boys all love to bowl, especially during the summer. A 200 game is rare but not impossible for any of them.
I used to have strong arms, wide shoulders, deep chest and a sweet delivery. Most of those are gone now, but I still enjoy the game.
En français c’est un abat (a strike).
Its been years since the last time I bowled. I was ok as a child playing in a kids’ league. I think I would be really out of practice now!
Pete… oh, yes… bowling is very hip… many alleys have become loungey with bars and comfy seating… AND… check this little blurb out… (I think Conan is quite cool)…
…aw…
Eprinc… Yay! Merci!
Bowling … It’s like riding une bicyclette… You can “pick up” the sport again very easily… (obscure pun… pick up= spare). Wah-wah.
I love Ryan’s classic alley-chair slump in panel 6. : )
I used to bowl with a 10lb fingertip. Not much of a hook, but I could really scream it in. Lots of pin action.
My nickname was “Rifleman”…
Little more than 2 years to go and I’m caught up. I’m going to hate it when I have to wait for updates like everyone else!
Pcat… Nice… Me loves me some bowling, but I don’t do it much anymore for reasons I can’t explain.
And you have a ton of OLD squids that I haven’t posted to the site yet. THEY are the beginnings… the old old Squid… that I need to put up on the site (as they use to live at the now defunct Webcomicsnation.com.
Sorry about that.
I don’t bowl any more either. Knee injury. Modern medicine got me walking again, but it didn’t get me to 100%.
Not the surgeon’s fault, some things just can’t be done no matter how good you are.
(I was a medic in the Army, spent some time working in hospitals, I NEVER complain when doctors can’t do everything, as long as they do all that they can.)
