Boring
In this life, there is no excuse for boredom. In a way… boredom is laziness. The mind (and life), is a terrible thing to waste.

Unless you’re in the hospital with a half-dozen tubes going in and out of you, unable to eat, drink, or even roll over. Oh, and loaded with Demerol and unable to keep a coherent line of thought. Then your only activity option is boredom.
May, 1986. Worst. Month. Of. My. Life.
Pete,
AGREED, Hospital time SUCKS! I thought they did it just to make you willing to sign ANYTHING to get out, but now I know that it’s simply because MOST of the time they have ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA what to do, but won’t admit it!
I’ve decided that when my Mutiple Myeloma gets around to “Finishing me off” I am NOT going back in. I’d rather die at Home with my Books and Music and Movies around me.
What’s bored? I thought that was only a thing kids did.
Like!
Agreed! I’m always a bit confused by people who are bored, or who depend on their devices to avoid boredom. The world is so full of fascinating things to see and do and think!
Pete- yeah, that situation is the exception. Sounds awful!
Pete… yah, okay. That would be an exception. Sounds lovely.
LEo… I have a friend who spent about a month in the hospital and felt like for most of her stay, she couldn’t get a straight answer from anyone doctoring her as to what the matter with her.
Nicole… yes, it is a childhood disease.
EofO… I had some fun here.
Chug… and besides… there is Pinterest, which is full of ideas and fun things! No reason to be bored, what-so-ever!
I love the way the strip has taken on such body and depth in the last year! It’s like the difference between a cup of McCoffee and a mug of good java! (And I just caught my autocorrect – it had substituted “Jobs” for “java”! Wonder where THAT came from??!!
Well said, and possibly a theme for a Squid Row “Art of” book, maybe?
I’m not bored, it’s Bastille day.
When I was in the hospital for three days (only the first was near death) they must have given me something that put my imagination into overdrive. I could shut my eyes and the afterimages would create wonderful weird worlds behind my eyelids. Daydreams became epic storylines and my dreams were vivid and engaging.
I never want that to happen again because the nightmares were also vivid and engaging. They were horrifying and I would wake up believing them until I figured out where I was. Then came the hours of waiting in the dark, waiting to calm down enough to fall back asleep and hopefully not have another nightmare. I’ll take bordom any day, thanks all the same.
Rich… thank you. I am certainly NOT bored. Good Java (or Good Job) is a constant goal…
Dada… I like the sound of that “The Art of Squid Row”… you might just SEE some of that in the eminent Squid Row graphic novel “The Inspired Life of Randie Springlemeyer…” or something like that. It will be ARTsy.
Shelby… Bastille Day est tres fabulous!
Unca Bad… Oh, dear… vivid dreams and nightmares… sounds like a movie… one of them horror films that keeps you up at night (HA! I made a funny!) … anyhow… I hope you wrote some of that down!
Many of you, Squiddies, have had prolonged stays in the hospital. Just noticing.
Yeah, don’t hit an f150 on your motorcycle. 3.5 months and brain injury sucks tons. Lucky I got home only two months after coma, though. Still mistake dreams for reality sometimes… But sleep aid helps for less nightmares.
I like Randie’s hat!
Frustration is defined as the gap between your reality and your expectations. For me, “boredom” is a similar gap; once I convince myself that ‘now’ is the only place I need to be, I find my reality to be rather enjoyable.
