When I was a kid, my Dad traveled to New York City. I asked him what it was like and he said, “They’re right. It’s a fun place to visit, but I wouldn’t want to live there.”
Later, in my 20s, Bethlynne and I moved to Tompkins Cove, NY, about 30 miles above NYC, so we had opportunity to got there. And having lived in the Philly area for 25 years now, we’ve been there many times. So what’s it like?
Dad was right, “It’s a nice place to visit, but I wouldn’t want to live there.”
Pasha… Exlnt… That’s one ticket!
… Side note… Just got into Paris… And along the Seine by our lodgings, they were filming a movie (or tv show)… It seemed to be a 1940’s genre.
legacy… If it isn’t fun to write, then you should ask yerself why yer doin’ it, yes? So I agree.
Pete…. NYC seems gritty to me. It also seems like a place where noise would be an issue. More and more, I have found the joy in serene ness. So visit… Maybe for the art museums. No, I don’t think I could live there either.
I had a friend that moved to NYC once, ran into him about six months after he moved. Said he moved back to Washington state because he got tired of the fact that no one would help anyone else. He said that he got mugged in broad daylight on a crowded street with a cop roughly ten feet away and no one did anything, not even the cop. That was the last straw for him.
I would go and see that! 😀
You should, always fun to write things.
Really need to get back on the writing horse, ah well…
