You, know, I’m really not surprised. It’s consistent with other “away from work” peeks we’ve had in Grace’s life. I have always believed there really is a nice little girl deep inside Grace that wants to show herself in any way she can.
Of course, I also believe that Grace has the heart of a small child.
In a jar.
On her desk.
This dichotomy in Grace is what makes her so incredibly interesting as a character. Added to that is Randie’s conviction there isn’t anything good about Grace. Both need to experience growth in their lives, which is what makes Squid Row so good.
Pete… your comment is priceless! jar… heart… small child… ha ha! And I know you have faith in Graces’ goodness…. (oh, the symbolicalness)…. and I appreciate the compliment on the comic… smiles and hugs!
I’ve seen that happen. The flipside is when viewers look immediately for the name of the artist before judging how much they love/hate the artwork (which is also just as shallow).
I feel for artists when it comes to that. And I *try* not to do it myself.
For example, because of what perversions they have done to my childhood memories so far, I have repeatedly wished for JJ Abrams and Michael Bay to be loaded in a rocket and launched into the sun. For Bay, that goes double for what he did to Transformers, don’t get me started – would take all day to list the issues I have.
Let’s just list Megan Fox and call it a day – she accounts for most of the damage anyway.
But I decided to give Abrams the benefit of the doubt this time, the first Star Trek remake wasn’t bad, even with the flaws I found in it. Went to see Into Darkness last night … and was impressed. Still had a few flaws IMHO but mostly they are due to me being a traditionalist. Making myself step aside and judge it as if I were not as familiar with the old material as I am – not bad at all.
So I’ll cut the kid some slack and see where he goes with this and the Star Wars movies coming out. I will “unlearn what I have learned” and give it a shot.
Now if only Randie could do the same with Grace, eh? I have a feeling she would be much more tolerable (possibly even likeable) if she was met with less hostility.
Dada… Hmmm…. I’d not thought of that… I suppose I could see it… say with Shag or something.
Grey… I, too, saw the new Trek… and I, too, am a traditionalist…. but I did like the last two Trek films…
HOWEVER… I don’t like the new Kirk… but am pleased as punch with the rest of the cast… maybe not Scotty (jury is still out). AND J.J. Abrams films are what I call “hyper-action”… the action is coming at you all the time… lots of stuff happening where you can barely follow what’s happening. There’s usually not enough meaningful dialogue to see into a character. Yes, we see that Kirk can get beat up… ALOT… but Rocky beat that into the ground (excuse the pun). I tire of that.
Now Star Wars… my once beloved childhood friend. I am not holding my breath. I refuse to acknowledge the last three films… but the new energy on the next three would be welcome… so long as it isn’t “hyper-actionated”>>>ANYTHING is better than the last three… honestly. So I am with you.
firedome… you and many others… there might need to be a Grace Fan Club.
Oh, I am sure we could both sit down with some nice coffee and spend most of a day sharing our feelings about how much the prequels sucked, Brig. So much potential, so much expected – yet such a LETDOWN. A disgusting letdown at that … Anakin as an emo, FEH!
Georgie deserved all the heat he got from the fans and then some. Even more so for his “poor George” routine, acting like the same misunderstood emo he turned Anakin into. Well go join the Dark Side already so we can hunt you (oh, right, you already DID).
Sorry, am I coming across disgruntled again? C’est la vie.
i try to keep my perspective with people like grace. granted, she’s abrasive, way too self-centered, and nasty but on the other hand afaik, she isn’t out committing war crimes or selling fake cancer cures or foeclosing people out of their homes with faked papers. hate, for normal people, is a scarce resource. it should be saved for the real monsters. this is not to say i would like to work or room or associate with someone like grace, but i’d try not to dwell on it and i wouldn’t waste time plotting their downfall or comeuppance. granted, the randie-grace cold war isfun to watch.

Pete,
You said:

That’s psycho.

Beetles…. I know!
There wasn’t a single Squiddie who didn’t see this coming. Humble pie, Ms. Randie, is definitely on the menu.
Pete: Your comments, particularly the one in the middle: Priceless.
Hey–I said “priceless” w/o reading Brig’s. GMTA.
EofO… Priceless indeed! and yah….

I thought there was something about Grace that appealed to me. the fact that she does art that would appeal to Roger Corman clinches it!
