All Niter Writer
When the ideas are pouring out… you can’t just… sleep. You gatta get it all out on paper. It helps that Ryan is doin’ that jet lag thing again.

I love the tub scene. Reminds me of the kitten sleeping in the sink in the Mean Kitty Song video. Ryan’s one half-drooping eye is a nice touch. Ha…Randie is discovering a pitfall to being a “muse.”
I did this so often (with laptop, not pen and paper) that my sister started to have a hard time sleeping if she couldn’t hear the ‘click click’ of my keyboard.
I’ve gone through that more times than I can recall. I wrote my novel SHARDS – which totaled 297,000 words – in 54 weeks, a lot of it in “binge” writing.
I love and hate when that hits me. The story is flying out of my mind so fast, my typing fingers can barely keep up. It’s wonderful! Until, that is, the sun comes up and I need to be at work in an hour. And then it happens again when I get home from work (barely conscious and having nearly caused a couple accidents because I’m so sleepy). After a week of three hours sleep a night, I get sick and it takes me two weeks to recover. But… WOW! the stuff I wrote is really good!
I often get inspired by reading the paper or chatting about various tangential topics with folks at fast food places and/or buffets…luckily there are plenty of napkins to be had, and I’m always sure to bring a pen. Regulars have gotten used to my napkin noting. Those sessions can go on and on, and oh the many many notes created for transcription and illustration use later.
Stick: Dry sinks are lovely for cats… as long as the faucet don’t drip. Coffee shops are inspiring for moi… although, I am never without a sketchbook… so I leave the napkins to those who need them.
Dani: THAT would make a great song! Your tapping away at the keyboard… perhaps with light guitar or synth behind it… (Okay… I’ve been playing in Garageband).
Pete: Binge writing… I like that term. But your predicament sounds precarious… non-sleeped-ness. Okay, kids… write responsibly!
The only time I’m truly inspired is when it’s highly inconvenient. WHY???
For a second I thought Rye was in a padded cell. Whew! Just the bath tub!
At least he is using a quiet pen and paper.
When I get inspired to write, I have to go over the details in my mind for days before commiting to my computer. When the inspiration is gone, so is the drive to get it completed.
EofO… True dat !!!!
Jack… He might’ve felt as if he were in a padded cell during his bout of writers block!
Joe… there IS that “scribbling” sound a pen makes on paper… to the quiet sleeper, EVEN THAT will keep ya up.
I have to sleep with earplugs in cause the sounds *outside* my house can keep me awake…let alone the sounds of the cats running around playing all hours of the day/night. lol. Poor Randie!
