Alert
Do you believe in ghosts? Ryan would probably say no. He can sit and rationalize things… and say stuff like “don’t give power to your fears” … I’m more on the Cowardly Lion end of things… “I do believe in spooks, I do-I do-I do.” But I find them more interesting, rather than frightful. Gnomes, on the other hand…
Hey, Rye…wanna really mess with Randie’s head? Don’t answer the phone for the next few days.
You know, there are folks that kidnap lawn gnomes.
And then there are the ones that disappear from the lawn, then start sending postcards back from all sorts of odd locations…. (Try Googling it – gnomes are… busier… than you might think.)
Meanwhile, a Wikipedia article on the Garden Gnome Liberationists – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Garden_gnome_liberationists
It’s easy to say you don’t believe in ghosts until you run into one!
Yat: Ha! Yah!
Grump: yes, they get a trip around the world sometimes… and they don’t even have to pay for it! Except, gnomes like to be underground and hidden… so it may not be fun for them. Too, they seem to like to work… BUT… pressing them into work is BAD… therefore… the GGL. I like this organization. Hee hee.
Fuse… I do believe in spooks… I do, I do, I do. (I used to live in a haunted house… so I know about ghosts)… I’m not kidding.
Yat… or he can speak in the voice of a gnome the next time she calls.
Gnomes Alert? As in plural? Does anyone else realize that the apartment building is infested by the little buggers except for Randie, who doesn’t even live there?
Remember – the ones in the red caps, they are Tomte or Kabouter, not gnomes! Creatures of farm and hearth, not just of the dank underground.
Gnomes is an English appellation, and more properly belongs to creatures of the elemental earth…. (I really need to get a replacement copy for my long lost Field Guide to the Little People….)
Like brownies, they may turn on you if you thank them for their labors.
Hobgoblin is another good name for them.
The Auld Grump
stick: hmmm… speak in gnome… I got the idea that the gnomes were pretty tite-lipped (unless you’ve seen that gnome animated movie). But don’t believe everything you see in the movies (which sounds like advice Ryan would give to Randie).
Grump… You and Pete should get together for coffee… you guys seem to have done a little research on the gnomes and little people.
Supporting member of the Elves, Leprechauns, Gnomes, and Little Men’s Chowder & Marching Society, me. Meeting once a year under the blue moon. 🙂
The Auld Grump, there is a fair amount of overlap with The Ancient Order of Hibernians….
