Today’s Tidbit:
*klang klang* as Linus knocks on an aluminum Christmas tree.
Linus: “This really brings Christmas close to a person.”
Becoming popular in the late 50’s and growing in popularity, when A Charlie Brown Christmas aired in 1965, that one comment absolutely destroyed the aluminum tree industry, and they were all but abandoned by 1967.
Our family watches about a dozen Christmas movies during the season, but A Charlie Brown Christmas holds the highest place of honor, and we watch it on Christmas Eve. It is the only one that gives us the true meaning of Christmas.
CVS add this week had the Charlie Brown tree for 10 bucks. Does it make me a bad person for wanting to buy it? Such irony… the word “commercial” comes to mind.
Still… like you Pete, the Peanuts Christmas is my all-time favorite… (The Muppets Christmas Carol runs second)… and I don’t feel sorry for the metal Christmas tree industry. Is that bad?
I’m racking up some coal, I think… anyhoo… “Branches…” ha!
Thanks, Ruby… I had other ways of Randie acquiring a Christmas tree, but I had to get Max in there. I wouldn’t want folks to forget that he lives next store! Myself, I like the Noble Fir (in my living room) and the Norfolk Island Pine with it’s droopy limbs… (what I gots in the Cartoonery -my office).
I was stunned to see that CVS/pharmacy actually sells licensed Charlie Brown Christmas trees.
Astrigali,
Didn’t you know that CVS has “branches” everywhere?
I think it ruins the meaning of a Charlie Brown tree if you have to pay eighteen ninety five for it. Love today’s strip, though.

Now all of the Squid Row cast has to dance around it!
Ha! Yes! And sing happy Christmas carols and laugh and… oh, you’re being sarcastic.
and somewhere in the background we see schroeder playing the vince guaraldi songbook…
Actually, I’m not sure DH was being sarcastic…
…which I absolutely love! The Charlie Brown Christmas album… top 10 all-time best! I never tire.
