The trouble with Garden Gnomes… is that they can turn on you. Slave labor often will often do that. I suggest leaving out a plate of cookies every now and then.

Hammers would certainly be effective. Brit comedian Eddie Izzard has a whole routine on how chainsaws ought to be pretty useful against vampires… chainsaws would probably do alright against most monsters. But gnomes?
