Steinbeck Center
Both Of Mice & Men and The Grapes of Wrath are heartbreaking stories. I reread Of Mice… recently. I am not ashamed to say that cried. I don’t remember crying when I read it in high school. I do remember being touched. That’s great literature.

I, too, found of mice… to be quite moving. Simply one of my favorite books.
Yes, Meghan, there is a Steinbeck Center.
You can “walk through” the books. You can hop up on a red pony. You can lounge in a pipe complete with curtains (Cannery Row)… You can sit and watch a video of poets/actors reading Steinbeck’s work, and watch a little “Of Mice & Men”. And there’s a gift shop! Have a look!

Hello Simple Country Physicist! This has been the subject of many conversations… The different languages we humans speak, even when we think we’re speaking the same one. If you think in pictures, someone speaking in words is only catching your attention on the nouns and verbs. I’m not sure it’s a matter of choosing to hear the other person…it’s a matter of thinking you are hearing them, when you’re not. This must be explored further…

I’ll admit that I didn’t hit it off too well with Steinbeck. His descriptions of scenery are incredible … I just can’t make it through the parade of indignities between them. I hope this doesn’t make me a bad person …
