Ever know people whose lives seem very complicated with events, to-dos, and goings ons? B.B. and Leroy seem to prefer a large full plate.
Ever know people whose lives seem very complicated with events, to-dos, and goings ons? B.B. and Leroy seem to prefer a large full plate.
And it will probably get busier.
Over the years, my wife and I have looked at all the busy families with all the kids in multiple organized sports, innumerable activities, clubs, and projects, and all of them having gone to full-day child care and pre-kindergarten. Everything planned for their kids to be busy adults with successful careers and big houses.
Then we look at our five sons and how they only played one active sport (baseball) then played with their friends and each other for endless hours of unstructured free time. We look at their going to clubs only they were interested in, and only one or two at a time. They have social lives, but spend evenings and weekends with the family. They started school with kindergarten and no sooner. We look at our kids and realize we’ve given them the primary ingredient to be a happy, productive adult: A happy childhood, filled with memories and the ability to have a good career that fits around their family and their happy home.
I wonder if B.B. will take Twinkie with her this time.
Pete… I believe in quality… quality of life (this is very French, by the way). If you are busy, busy, busy… you often get frantic and hurried… is that the best way to spend the time you’ve been given? So I commend you on your choice to let your kids be kids and do kid stuff. I know a few peoples who operate on highly structured lives like you mentioned. I don’t find them to be any happier.
Ep… I dunno, I don’t think Leroy would like that very much… Twinky and Leroy don’t have a good track record… and can you see Twinkie “helping” with the remodel? Paw prints in the paint, cement, etc. Oh the fun!
