I am diggin’ the Squid Row. I am stoked there’s another ‘daily comic’ artist out there. It’s a type of cartooning that’s a little hard to come by these days. See you at Stumptown!
Hi Bridgett. i was just watching your video and was wondering if u could tell me what computer program and gadgets (who makes them) u use to create Squid Row. i saw that u draw all the b&w with pen and then scan (i assume). And then u use the computer and digital pen? for color. I am always interested in what artist use to create their art. Keep up the good work and thanks!
Sincerely, Matthew
Hello Bridgett, I am wondering if you are going to have a first friday gathering at the cartoonery?
I went to the one in March and had a blast!!
Squid Row Rules!!!!!
Oh, yes… First Friday is on! I do hope you’ll be stopping by! I am glad you had a great time previously… Harold works very hard to make the event silly and fun!
Hey Bridgett,
THANK YOU for opening the cartoonery for first Friday!!! It totally rocked!!!!
Your totally welcome for the cheese! I had hoped you would like them. The pepper cheese was a Sicilian peccorino aged sheeps milk cheese. The ewe cheese was from the Netherlands I
believe, and the full name is Ewephoria. The others I cannot remember the names of unfortunately. Oh, and the gouda is called Old Amsterdam as that is the city where it is made.
All of these cheeses are available at the Carmel Cheese shop which is located in the Carmel plaza. They even have Chimay chese. Chimay is a monistary that makes great beer and cheese.
As for the pictures, I am very pleased that you liked them. Yes, I would be greatly honored if
You used them as a reference or even in your comic strip or artworks. It always makes me happy when somebody enjoys my photography.
Thanks again for an absolutely wonderfull time!!!!!!
We all had fun!!!!
Keith A.K.A. squid man
Firedome A.K.A. Frank
& Patrick ( no avitar yet)
Bridgett, I just found some pictures of Frank ( firedome ), and I on a fishing trip quite a few years ago. Also there are a few pix of him goofing arround on my boat when I had it on dry dock at the Monterey boatyard.
Frank loved them and we thought that it would be fun to share them with you.
My computer and I are still at war, so if I cannot send them to you, I will put them on disk and give them to you at the next first Friday gathering. I guess that will be coming up in a few weeks.
I hope to hear from you soon!!!
Squid Man ( Keith ).
RE: the photo of you holding the jam. Years ago, when I lived in Salinas, the Smuckers people had a big Strawberry Jam plant just south of town. Just loved that fresh, Monterey County strawberry jam. Is it still there?
Smuckers left Monterey a few years ago, which is sad. I didn’t make sense to me as strawberries are a huge crop here in Salinas! And with a name like Smuckers…
I just wanted to drop you a line and let you know your ears were burning for a reason today. Your mom and I were talking when she picked up her artwork she had framed at my store. She had a piece framed, that a family member had drawn in 1977, of Chief Joseph. She was very pleased how it turned out and talked quite a bit about your endevors and I could see how very proud of you she is.
Hey Bridgett,
I just wanted to say that I”m really beginning to like your strip. I started reading webcomics and publishing my own about a year ago. I saw yours about six months ago and didn’t really get into it, but last night I stumbled across it again and its really starting to gel for me. It just has a nice slice of life feeling to it. I’ve been a starving artist , but I’ve never been a starving artist in a sea side town. I love the drawing and the color. I really likd those little color gradations into white. I want to try that sometime. Keep up the great work.
Hey thanks, Denny F! I appreciate your mail and your kind words… Smiles! I’m glad that your are enjoyin’ the Squid Gang… and I might add… Your artwork is pretty spanky! Twit Troo of the Moon is nicely drawn… So kudos to you and your webtoon as well!
Bridgett, Im just dropping you a line to say hello, and that sadly, Frank, Patrick, and I will not be able to attend first friday this month. We all have to toil away at work until rediculous hours
that evening.WAAAAA!!!! I’d rather hang out at the cartoonery and socialize. I mean who wants to buy a hamster or chinchilla at nine o’clock at night on a friday night anyway??
I still would like to get together for coffee or a soda and talk about art sometime. I have a bunch of art related questions that i would like to ask you.
Anyway, take care and I will talk to you later,
Keith ( Squidman)
Bridgett, let me know when your going to be in town and we will have coffee. I am free this weekend if you’re going to be in town then.
Please give Harold a squeeze for me!
grins!
Keith
Bridgett, I have Friday free if you still wanted to get togrther for coffee. let me know if this is good for you. If not, another time before I leave is fine.
Keith

Bridgett,
It was great to be able to meet you in Vegas along with Chad Carpenter and all the other great cartoonists – I hope you’re going back. I love the Flicr pictures. You have a great cartoon and website.
-Dale
Bridgett,
Im glad that you finally got my post cards! Talk about snail mail! Anyway, I actually did not spend much time looking for the Kendal mint cakes. Mom and I walked down to Covent Garden on our first day there and found them right away. I brought home and mailed home a bunch of postcards, so when the ones that I mailed home get here, I will give you some more.
I would love to see your watercolor sketchbook thats on your homepage.
Thanks again for the E-mail!!
I’ll talk to ya soon!!
Keith
P.S. Loved the pix of Harold after too much wine and snax!
Bridgett,
I will be in Salinas early on friday, and I was wondering if you would like any help setting up for first Friday?( blowing up baloons, hanging signs, opening the wine, etc…).
Please let me Know.
Keith
Hello,
I have been following your comic for over a year now and I enjoy it! It gives me inspiration and hope that I could bring my characters to life in the funny pages one day. I hope you don’t mind a question. What kind of software do you use for coloring and finishing touches? Thank you so much for your time and I will be looking forward to seeing more “Squid Row”.
With kind regaurds,
Danay
Hey Bridgett,
Thanks for introducing me to Somos. I really enjoyed it.
I am really sorry that I was not better company. I was very tired , after a 6-12:00 shift.
Next time I will have the day off, so I will be better company. Not so tired.
Thanks again !
Grins!!
Keith
Bridgett,
There is a Hawaiian? type restaurant in Pacific grove called Thiwaiian bistro.
They are located on forrest avenue in a small shopping center between Safeway and
Trader Joe’s. They are right next to a mandarin chinese restaurant.
The owner has a giant tikki sticker in the back window of his truck.
I am not sure if you have heard of this reataurant or not, but I thought I should mention it.
All things tikki considered, This place looks good.
Cheers!
Keith
Your TopWeb vote button vanished in the very nice looking site redo. I used to vote for you seven days a week. Get the button back and I will vote again.
A good friend of mine picked up a business card of yours from the Salinas wine Fest. I recognized your work immediately from a rare(rare for me) Salinas newpaper I got last week; your strip really stood out. Great art and writing, love the values in your strip.
I’m a someday cartoonist that lives just up the road from Salinas and would love to look into any local or online gathering of cartoon talent. What are the INC Funsters?
I put links to the original publishing dates for Ryan & Randie’s paper dolls on the Spill paper doll Sunday page… They are August 8,2010 and June 13, 2010. Enjoy!
I just reblogged this odd IKEA advert, and it made me think of squid row immediately! I swear it’s relevant, and I think you’ll find it as weird-funny as me if you have time. Keep on being awesome! ^o^
Hi, I’ve added Squid Row to my index of over 8000 U.S. newspaper comic strips. May I ask a couple of questions to complete the entry? Is the strip syndicated? How long has it been appearing in the Herald? What is the strip’s frequency? Is it a strip or panel? My I ask your birth year? Many thanks. Dave Strickler
hey! I am loving thecomics!!!!!!!!!!See you soon,

Hi Bridgett!
I was so glad to meet you at Stumptown! I hope you had a fabulously successful weekend. Drop me an email anytime and hope to see you next con!
Your minion, Sabrina
Do you ever draw anything besides motorscooters and coffee? I’m tired of cartoons about Randie.
Point taken. You may want to come back to Squid Row in a week-ish.
