Uke
… Death metal Uke… it’s out there… on YouTube.
You can do A LOT on a ukulele… including death metal… but it always sounds cheerful and non-threatening.
When traveling home from our last trip to Hawaii, a uke followed us home. He’s a cute little fella.
I remember the first time I heard punk rock played on an accordion. It was surprisingly well done.
So I tried to listen to death metal ukulele.
You are very right.
This is a very cheerfull death metal…
Heh! Very cool, Iz would be so pround of you.
Your art, which has always been good, just keeps getting better.
Two words: Jake Shimabukuro!
Chug: I can just see it…. Safety pins, Mohawk, tattoos… And an accordion!
Val: told ya! It is hard to bang yer head to uke death metal.
Scruff… Aw, gosh…. Tanks….
Dcortesi: I love Jake… Peace, love, uke!
There’s a few DM bands out there that include “non-traditional” instruments. Eluveitie, for example, include violin, mandola, bagpipes, whistles and hurdy-gurdy.
Can’t say I’ve heard one that uses ukulele yet…..
Uwg… Amazing… And I just like saying hurdyGurdy…. Hee hee… And any word in Dutch …hoogenfonder, dazzenboogen, handzeep!
Many years ago there was a small rock band in my area named Pianosaurus…. And one of their instruments was indeed a plastic toy Pianosaurus….
I wonder if YouTube has them at all….
Yep – they do, but it is a lot softer and more pop than what I was remembering: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f4wylXOYLQI
The Auld Grump, back from a pagan retreat….
Grump… Well, Welcome back! So which pagan retreat would this be? … that you are returned from…
In any case… cheerful ditty! interesting photos on the video… I also love the name, Pianosaurus… clever. I love the unconventiality of the instrument, too.
A small retreat up near Rangely Lakes in Maine. I was there running Pathfinder games….
Attendance has been between sixty-five and a hundred people, this was the first time in three years that we have been above eighty folks, including children.
I am not exactly a pagan or Neo-Pagan, just an interested and wandering U/U, but my girlfriend is an Alexandrian Wiccan. I have been running RPGs at the retreat for five years, after first doing so about fifteen years before. I get paid for it, too. 🙂
*Start playing gooey music*
It was three years ago at one of these retreats that my current girlfriend first tried to seduce me – it took her two and a half years, but she got me in the end. 🙂
Any romance that involves your soon-to-be-ex-girlfriend telling you ‘She needs you, idiot!’ and pushing you at the other woman is indeed a strange one….
My ex was right… and what she did not tell me was that I needed somebody as well. My ex and I had maintained a long distance relationship for twenty plus years, I just did not want to admit that it was finally over. (Long distance relationships are not fun. But we tried, lords above and below, we tried.)
Plus… I now have a story to embarrass myself – how I managed not to notice a seduction attempt when it sat nekkid in my lap. Twice. (Really. 😛 ) M actually had to TELL me – I just thought that it was a pagan trying to freak the ‘dane.
It turned out that M had been pushed in my direction by two of my players – who thought that I was too much alone (that is a euphemism – the reasons that they actually gave rhymes with ‘need to get paid’). 🙄
Since I started dating M I have lost about ten pounds and my hair has started growing in dark at the roots. The sad thing is that I liked having grey hair, and having hair coming in dark at the roots just looks strange. My next haircut should make things look a bit more normal.
The Auld Grump, most likely the grey is a symptom of chronic depression. I didn’t notice until it ended. I am smiling a lot more, lately.
